Trichomonas: This happens quite frequently in women:  chronic, longstanding infection without symptoms, now causing symptoms like vaginal discahrge with odor. Trichomonas in men rarely causes symptoms, but men probably can carry it for long periods. The important thing is for both members of a couple to be treated. It's usually not possible to know when and where the infection was first acquired.

Very typical: Both these things are common and typical. Trich in men usually causes no symptoms and are undetectable with most tests, and are cleared by the immune system more than in women. Still, he must be treated, and all women with trich need testing for other STDs, in case the infection was recently acquired. But if your partner seems to be truthful and trustworthy, take his word for it.

Possibly: It is possible to have trich for 5 years and most people will have some sort of symptoms such as discharge with odor and vaginal irritation or burning. Bv is different than trich though the symptoms are similar.  I don't think having trich will make someone more susceptible to BV but i suppose it's possible.

Trichomoniasis: Has your boyfriend been tested?  If both are completely monogamous, you may have had silent disease that is just now becoming symptomatic.

Trich is a vaginal: Disease, rarely it could get up in the uterus , but trich almost always causes symptoms of vaginal malodorous and unpleasant discharge and it is transmitted from a partner.

i got tested positive today for trichomoniasis and bv . ive been with my fianc for 4 years now, i havent stepped out, he says he hasnt. can trich stay dormant for that long? he didnt get checked up with the woman before me but i get checked year?

: Men can harbor it without symptoms- at times. He should be checked and treated if positive. In the meantime use a condom

: Trichomonas is not always communicated to a male partner, but if your fiance', for example,  might have been treated with an antibiotic for urethritis in the past "two years", such treatment may have eliminated the trichomonas.

Trichomoniasis:  Trichomoniasis can be a silent infection. Your partner may have been positive for months to years without knowing it. Most STD screens don’t include Trichomoniasis.

Basically yes.: it also is a FREE LIVING organism. So, swamp water, toilet seats, other non-std origins of infection possible but not as common as from intercourse
