Trichomonas: This happens quite frequently in women: chronic, longstanding infection without symptoms, now causing symptoms like vaginal discahrge with odor. Trichomonas in men rarely causes symptoms, but men probably can carry it for long periods. The important thing is for both members of a couple to be treated. It's usually not possible to know when and where the infection was first acquired.

Trichomoniasis: Trichomoniasis is the most common STD. It is due to infection with a parasite called Trichomonas Vaginalis. It may be silent in 70% of infected people.
