Vaccine/antibiotics: You can get vaccination during or after taking this antibiotics. In general, if you are a healthy individual, you can get vaccination any time if it is indicated. Depending on if it is a live vaccine or not, contraindication is different especially for patients with primary immune deficiency or having a weak immune system. You can read more about this at the cdc vaccination website for each vaccin.

1 y/o vaccines: The one year old immunizations recommended are mmr, varicella, hepatitis a and if has not had for the current season, influenza. You can also boost the dtap, pcv, and hib vaccines at a year, as long as 6 months has elapsed from the third infant dose - although most of us wait until the 15 month appointment to do those boosters. Vaccine titers: You can get antibody or igg titers to see if your immunizations are working or conferring protection. You can have your doctors order those labs at any commercial labs.

at what age should one start adult immunization after the childhood immunization?

Accepted Answer

Depends on situation: The rather routine adult immunizations include a yearly flu shot, a tetanus shot every 10 years and other specific vaccines based on age or situation. The preferred tetanus shot for a booster now boosts whooping cough & diphtheria & is known as the tdap. Some of my patients have their last tdap ar 17-19 so they would be do for a booster 10 yrs later.

Not required: meningitis vaccine isn't a requirement, unless certain populations/ conditions, eg exposure, certain immunodeficiency states, check with your local health authority if you wish, and also check this link

Separate issues: There are lab tests available for each of the four agents you listed. Contact your pcp to see if they can be drawn at their office or at a separate lab site.

MD or clinic: There are travel medical clinics in my area, and they provide all the necessary inoculations needed, but call your md first and see if they can provide for your needs.
