Yes!: The withdrawal (pull-out method), while better than nothing, has a relatively high failure rate compared to other forms of contraception.  In addition having unprotected sex around the time you ovulate puts you at even higher risk for an unintended pregnancy. If this occurred within the past 5 days, request an Rx for Ella from your clinician, and select a more  effective method of contraception.

Wait, don't test yet: A urine pregnancy test done correctly gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon, and therefore lead to a repeat test. If a woman has her normal regular period, then she is not pregnant, and a test is not needed.

Pregnancy: If you are certain that you ovulated on the 1st, and had unprotected intercourse 4 days later it is unlikely that you could conceive.  The egg is only can be fertilized for up to 24 hrs after ovulation.  But next time use a condom!

is 1,327 a good hcg level for 5-6 weeks pregnant? not sure on ovulation date, lmp was 12/11 and first positive test was 1/11. 2 previous miscarriages, i am 29. i have to wait to get second betas done, but looking for guidance in meantime?

: HCG levels vary widely in normal pregnancies. It is good that you are planning to repeat the test as a rising level is a good sign.
