Pin-X: Annoying but harmless condition - this is usually what I recommend to my patients. Have to ask the pharmacist at your store about it.

Probably not: Mebendazole has shown activity damaging to the infant in pregnant rats at oral doses approximately equal to the human dose.  The use of Mebendazole is not recommended in pregnant women.  Since the course of treatment is so short you could refrain from sex or use contraceptives during that time and then resume trying to become pregnant.

Not at that dose: If this is not working, consider you may not have pin worms. The peri-anal itching most often associated with PW's can be caused by a number of thongs, as diverse as a strep dermatitis, a reaction to foods, etc. Unless you have had PW's identified, I would look to another cause.If you are getting re-infected, some human in your environment is giving it to you.

Yes, in the USA: In the United States, these medications are available only by prescription.  Pyrantel pamoate is a medication which is available over the counter for treatment of pinworms.

Pinworms: Treat the whole family a week apart. Cut  everybody's nail s short and scrub under nails with disinfectant and hope for the best.

Depends: The dose and timing for this drug is dependent upon the type of worms you are treating. Some require much more med than others.Either find out and submit another question or ask the physician who started your treatment.

: People get pinworms when they ingest pinworm eggs that hatch in their gut. It would not be expected in an adult unless they have frequent contact with toddlers. It is not the only reason one develops anal itching. If you are re-treating without documenting true infestation you may be missing the alternative.

is it ok to continue taking metformin even if i don't have polycystic ovaries anymore? is it true it counters the effect of otc pills (weight gain)

Accepted Answer

Yes: If you have Insulin resistance or even diabetes metformin is fine to take.  Some people have lost weight on metformin, perhaps due to GI side effects.  I haven't heard that it can interfere with diet pills but those can be dangerous on their own.

Maybe: normal treatment for most things with Mebendazole is 3 to 5 days. longer then that depends on what is being treated.
