Piercing : Any active or history of viral (fever blisters ) or bacterial infections (impetigo) for example could lead to problems such as scarring when a piercing takes place.

: Before or after probably doesn't matter so much as proximity to the filler. I'd wait at least a month in between procedures to be safe! Main concern would be to just stay away from the piercing when placing filler as much as possible to avoid bacterial seeding and infection.

Not at outbreak: You should not have the piercing place during an outbreak of lip (cold) sores due to infectious nature. Harmful to person placing the devise.  However, no problem at other times.  Slight risks of other infections to the site.

Yes: Unless someone with sickle cell anemia has had recurrent or serious infections, a lip piercing should be ok. A doctor should be consulted to make certain.

Accepted Answer

Is there infection?: Immediately after a piercing, ice is your best bet to reduce swelling.  Apply for 10-20 minutes every hour.  Sleep with your head elevated.  Avoid tobacco use.  If it is warm, red, or oozing, you may have an infection and should see a physician to get a proper diagnosis amd possibly a round of antibiotics.

Gangrene?: Very unlikely. But i would not want one and predict that you will tire of it.

Wait.: You are more susceptible to infections while you are pregnant. What's the rush? Pregnancy is complex enough; why add the risk of infection to it? Is there any particular reason you can't wait another 15 weeks, since you've waited this long?
