i am 12 days post iui procedure with brown spotting and a negative pregnancy test. what could this possibly indicate? i had cramping and felt like i would have gotten my flow 2 days prior to the brown spotting?

: Low levels of pregnancy hormone at "12 days post IUI" can represent pregnancy outside the uterus (ectopic), so obtaining a serum HCG level ( a more sensitive test than a home pregnancy test) will provide more certainty.  If positive, see your GYN physician for an exam and possibly more testing.

i'm on yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol).  cycles usually 28 days.  i am two days late with my period with only brown spotting and a negative pregnancy test? chances i'm pregnant?

Accepted Answer

Unlikely: it is not uncommon for your period to fluctuate within a few days. If you have been consistent with your birth control pill then the likelihood of pregnancy is very low. However if your period does not come within a week then get a pregnancy test and consider a better form of birth control.

Accepted Answer

Unlikely: Implantation bleeding would be expected to occur about two weeks after a fruitful sex. You may wish to repeat the pregnancy test in a week or so. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully.

Probably not: The fact that you had a period, although it was not like your usual periods, makes it very unlikely that you are pregnant. Most women have an usual period (shorter, longer, lighter, heavier,early, or late) once in a while.  Home pregnancy tests are very reliable, but if you remain concerned and have had unprotected sex within the past month, do another pregnancy test in 1 week to be sure.

Uncertain: Reasons for missed/late periods: low body weight, obesity, marked weight ^ or v, over-exercise, endurance athletics, breast-feeding, ^ stress, illness, eating disorders (bulimia or anorexia), anovulatory cycle (no egg released), travel, hormone irregularities, drug use, meds (i.e., birth control) or medical problems (i.e. PCOS). #1 reason is pregnancy.

Vaginitis: You may have a yeast or other vaginal infection causing these symptoms. See your gynecologist to evaluate and possibly do cultures.

:  Sometimes periods can be irregular/ scant and the normalize.I think you should take it BC) as usual and if it (period0 does not re appear pl see a Gyn . Good luck

Irregular bleeding is  one of the most common problems Obgyns treat.: If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections &  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  there are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

Ignoring neg preg: When you've delivered 1 month ago!  ignoring a negative pregnancy test when you're symptomatic of pregnancy and/or late on your menses can be dangerous because if might be an ectopic pregnancy, which if untreated can have fatal consequences. The moral is, if you feel pregnant and have a negative test seek medical advice.

Not being pregnant : is the overwhelming reason for negative pregnancy test. Testing too early, defective test, or not following directions are other reasons. There are no physiologic reasons for false negs. Best wishes.
