Not very effective: For most people, although it works for some. Amount of liquid or coconut pult to be effective varies considerably. Doesn't work at all for some & may cause diarrhea with small amount in others. Probably ok if u want something mild. Senna is also natural and much more effective. Have you considered prunes or prune juice?

Maybe: Yopu should follow the directions provided to you by your endoscopist and follow them exactly as instructed!

Some other disease?: Each person with constipation needs to be sure there is no other disease causing it. If constipation is just due to slow movement of the food and poop through the gut, things to try are vegetables, prune juice, prunes, fiber-plus-water, polyethylene glycol, Senokot or other senna, milk of magnesia, etc... Make a symptom and "laxatives" diary for the doctor, who might try Linzess or Amitiza.

Depends: On what you mean. Long intervals? Passing "bullets"?  Try getting rid of sugar if that is part of your diet. If it is "bullets" try a tablespoon of mineral oil bedtime or earlier. Laxatives sometimes aggravate the situation even though they work. Drink lots of pure water.

Start simple, but...: Docusate (per PDR) helps moisten &amp;soften hard, dry stools. It is not a true laxative, but facilitates natural defecation, usually within 12 to 72 hours. This is safe &amp;available for anyone over 2, &amp;assumes normal GI anatomy without inflammation, stenosis, extrinsic or instrinsic obstruction. Please note that change in bowels is a "red flag", like weight loss or blood in stool, that needs evaluation

i typically go 24-40 hours without eating and take around a minimum of 4 laxatives after anytime i eat. i am miserable. do i have an eating disorder?

Yes: You likely have an eating disorder if you are taking laxatives regularly or intentionally not eating at least 1 meal a day.
Causes could be multiple and treatments aren't often easy depending what kind of eating issue you have. Bulimia, anorexia and binge eating are the most common types but they all overlap. Discuss it with one of our mental health colleagues, it will help.

Further review: You stated your symptoms have been going on for only three months.  Have you changed your diet or eating habits considerably? If not, need to evaluate the lower GI tract to see what has changed.  You could have anything form an absorption problem to a parasitic tapeworm blocking your bowels.  Rec. That you see a doc to evaluate for colon blockage from mass or parasite and motility problems, .

Constipation: Constipation is common and source of many abdominal symptoms. A bowel regimen to achieve 2 soft bowel movements daily (water, juices up to 1.5 liters daily, fiber tablets, laxatives, stool softeners, probiotics) and walking are non-prescription tools you use to reach goal. If you have fever, vomiting, localized pain lasting over 40 minutes get evaluated.
