can you be allergiec to visine eye allergy drops?

Visine allergy: There are several visine preparations containing different drugs, but most contain a topical decongestant (tetrahydrozoline) and preservative (benzalkonium chloride). True allergic reactions to either are rare, but the preservative can be irritating if you have a condition such as eczema.  More likely, the topical decongestant can cause a rebound reaction with increased redness from overuse.

: There are people who react to airborne allergy particles with this symptom. In the US there are over the counter antihistamine eye drops (Zadator, Padaday) which may be available under a different name in your country. If it is the lids rather than the eyes it may be a skin issue.

Allergy to rabbit: It appears to avoidance of further contact is the reasonable approach.  Be sure to wash all of the clothing you wore while handling the rabbit. I presume the drops helped.

my eyes are really bloodshot and i think i have rebound redness. i was using visine allergy drops to get rid of the red in my eye now i'm redder. help?

Just wait : This will go away, but DO NOT use the Visine drops to make it go away faster - that will only perpetuate the problem. If the redness is severe and you don't want to wait for it to resolve, your doctor or your ophthalmologist can prescribe a short course of steroid drops to help. See an allergist to help find better ways of controlling your eye symptoms than using the decongestant drops.

High eye pressure?: Since all drops containing antihistamine and especially steroid would potentially elevate your eye pressure, consider trying one containing cromolyn. If not effective, then see an allergist.

yes but . .: Allergic inflammation is common although it usually affects both eyes.  You may have a different issue such as episcleritis.  Blepharitis is a sort of dandruff of the lids and there is treatment for it (warm soaks, cleaning, topical ointments) but it does not usually cause redness of the eyes.  You should return for another look or at least get a second opinion.

i've been using opatanol eye drops 1ml more than 2x a day. can something happen to me? i have really bad allergies and that's the only thing tht help

Eye allergies: Patanol (olopatadine) is a very effective eye drop for allergies. It is meant to be effective when used twice per day. If you need more treatment than that, you may want to try using an over-the-counter allergy medication by mouth. Many of these medications, however, may make you sleepy, so try taking your first dose at the end of your day so that you can determine how sleepy it makes you.

Vasocon: Its a fine otc allergy eyedrop.  It is usually better to avoid the vasoconstrictors like tetrahydrazoline, found in visine.  Crolom is otc now i believe.  There are many good ones available by rx.
