Unlikely: An ultrasound does not have the resolution to see cancer cells. The image may or may not suggest cancer, but definitive diagnosis requires removal of the node and examination by a pathologist.

: Yes. The decision on chemo before or after surgery often depends on the type of cancer, where it is found and studies on the material removed. If the type of cancer and no evidence was found it had or could extend beyond the organ where it was found, it may not be used. It is a complex decision based on experience with other similar cases.

The : The efficacy of ultrasound often depends on the area that is being imaged. Ultrasound is very poor at evaluating adrenal glands, stomach, intestines, and colon; these are usually better imaged with ct or endoscopically. However, ultrasound is excellent for evaluation of the ovaries, uterus, and gallbladder. It can also be used to detect cancer in the liver and kidneys with a fairly high degree of confidence. Assuming your primary care provider was concerned about cancer involving one of these organs, if the ultrasound was negative, your blood work was negative, and you have no other concerning symptoms, then there is no reason to worry about cancer.

More info needed: Any history of jaundice (yellowness)?  Any history of hepatitis exposure?  For your doctor to order the above tests, you must have some other symptoms? Any history of gall bladder disease?  I suggest a discussion with your physician and a chance to develop a plan for further investigation.

part of my small intestine neuroendocrine cancer tumor was removed and not the complete tumor. he did not have expertise and referred me out. does this mean i have active cancer cells traveling thru bloodstream and can move from grade 1 to 3 quickly?

: Malignant tumor does not behave (progress) that way, otherwise nobody wants to have the biopsy done which is not much different with your situation.

Need for examination: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without seeing your records, especially the results of prior biopsies, taking history, performing a physical examination and may be doing some tests. Since you have a doctor, it would be prudent to discuss the matters with her/him.

Your Oncologist can: This is a broad question. There are many anticancer drugs that are used to slow cancer cell growth. But they vary in their effectiveness depending on which organ is the source of cancer. Not knowing the details of the history i can not be any more specific. Please pose this question to the treating oncologist.

Increased densities: Liver cancer can look like single or multiple nodules of increased density on the ultrasound. However, ultrasound is not the best, nor is it the final test in the diagnosis of liver cancer. A ct scan with and without contrast or an MRI scan give better visualization. By ultrasound, it is sometimes difficult to differentiate a hemangioma (a benign lesion) from a liver cancer.

Spots?: Need to see the scan to know what you are seeing. "spots" just doesn't supply enough information for a reasonable answer. You could have seen blood vessels, cysts, or anything. Ask your doctor.

Uncertain: Abnormal liver tests can have a number of different causes, not all of which have to do with the liver (muscle, injury, for example, can raise some liver tests; disease of the pancreas can raise different liver tests).  If you would, please ask the question again, stating which liver test you are referring to.
