what can i take or do if i have taken too much vitamin d suppl? i'm having stomach pains bloating etc.  my dr had me taking 20, 000 iu  a day. help!

Too much: Usually when the dose is that high it's prescribed once a month. Take a look at the directions. Unless you have a significant deficiency i usually recommend about 1000 units of d-3 a day.  Remember you will be taking this the rest of your life so think low dose long term :).

Vit d deficiency: D deficiency will ,not cause stomach problems directly.  But D deficiency can sometimes cause lower calcium balance, which may cause cramps.

Gastroenterologist: You need to be seen and fully evaluated by a GI doctor, and this will mean subjecting yourself to endoscopy and possible small bowel biopsy. This may or may not have anything to do with the viral infection you had, but there is no way to tell without a full assessment. Hope this helps.

Side effects: Without knowing the composition of the vitamin, it is hard to give an exact answer.  However , it is certainly possible that something in the pill you are taking can cause these symptoms.  I would recommend that you stop taking them to see if the symptoms stop. If so, it is probably the vitamin.  If the symptoms stop, you can test it by taking a pill for a day or two to see if they recur.

cbc results normal except mchc at 30.9. iron binding cap tibc at 360 / 399. ferritin at 8.7. vitamin d at 27.10. tsh at 2.98. thyroid peroxidase ab at 62. free t4 at 0.7. any cause for concern? im overall well, but seeing gi for some abdominal pain?

: It would be helpful if you listed the lab's normal values. I think your results show mild iron deficiency, common in menstruating women, elevated antithyroid antibodies with a decrease in free T4 but a normal TSH,so Hashimoto's hasn't resulted in clinical underactive thyroid as yet. Vitamin D level is slightly low for a young woman. As always, your MD who knows you is best to advise you.

Generally not: Some people get very mild upset, but very uncommon. Take with meals, should be an avoidable problem.

Symptoms of rickets, if present, include pain and irritability, motor delay, poor growth, and increased susceptibility to infections. People with osteomalacia may have no symptoms or may have generalized muscle and bone pain.

after every dinner my stomach feels bloated without over eating could this be because my b12 levels are 1600 and my vitamin d levels are deficient?

Bloating post dinner: Would check for reflux  with or without H pylori , a bacteria ,and would check for gallbladder status ( stones, dyskiensis ( ultrasound vs. HIDA) and food intoelrences like gluten / soy or milk . T I have found liver dysfunction with elevated B12 so check liver function and do not supplement  with B12 .if not supplementing  get evaluated as liver/blood diseases cause increase in B12 f/u/ w/ doc
