Canker Sores: Can be linked to problems with the body's immune defense system. The sores may occur after a mouth injury due to dental work, aggressive tooth cleaning, or biting the tongue or cheek. They usually heal without any treatment in about two weeks or so. In office treatment we use debacterol, a medication containing 50% sulfonated phenolics and 30% sulfuric acid. They heal in two days. Dr. Use only.

hurts to open my mouth wide. i did have a habit of grinding and clinching my teeth so maybe that caused it?

No quick fix: Clenching occurs during the day, grinding of the teeth at night.  There are many variables involved with clenching and by becoming aware of it often causes one to clench more.  A daytime splint (mouthpiece) can help, but i would recommend a custom one, not an otc mouthpiece.  You really should be evaluated to determine the best options, with a thorough history and an exam.

when i close my mouth so my teeth are almost touching, my teeth start slightly chattering. what could cause this?

Tired jaw: May be you have a condition where muscle control is weak. I would consult dentist who deals with myofascial disorders. Good luck.
