PPI is better: Over-the-counter proton pump inhibitors like Prilosec (omeprazole) or Nexium (esomeprazole) can protect the stomach from non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Advil (ibuprofen)/Aleve (naproxen).  H2 blockers like Zantac (ranitidine)/Pepcid (famotidine) at double dose are less effective, &amp; protect only the duodenum, not the stomach. Antacids like Tums (calcium carbonate) are inadequate for this purpose.

May be ibuprofen: The new abdominal pain may be from the ibuprofen. I suggest you discontinue it and substitute Tylenol (acetaminophen).  If this does not result in improvement after several days consult your doctor

Kidfney failure: Long term excessive use of motrin, advil, (ibuprofen) alleve , Ibuprofen etc  is associated with severe kidney damage. Do no take more than 200 mg of Ibuprofen and try to minimize intake.

Dyspepsia: Are your symptoms related to reflux or hyperacidity? If so, these medications should offer relief quickly. If you're referring to postmeal bloating and belching or bile reflux, they may not be effective. Try following a bland, fat free diet, avoid alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and take mylanta 1/2 hour after meals and at bedtime. Take either deliant or zantac daily. See a gastroenterologist as neede

Heartburn: Zantac (ranitidine) is not a medication for anxiety.
Heartburn/indigestion, feeling of anxiety attack seem to indicate stresses in your life need to be taken care of.
It is not what you eat!

Yes: Zantac (ranitidine) is actually used to counteract the irritation from taking advil. If you are taking advil on an ongoing basis it will probably not help with tomach pain (counteract the irritation effects). But if you have stopped the advil zantac (ranitidine) will help any irritation causing the discomfort to heal more quickly than it would do without any treatment.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) better: if you indeed have/had an ulcer, you should try to stay away from NSAIDS. why not get an endoscopy and see what's really going on?

Medications: there us no interaction between these two medications. Advil (ibuprofen) can cause stomach upset so one needs to make sure you are not causing one problem you are treating with another medication.

Accepted Answer

Probably: There is nothing in the medical literature abut a major drug interaction, but minor drug interactions are possible.

Prob best advice is to not take them at the same time, separate but at least 1-2 hours.
