Yes it is: Stress is one of the five major asthma triggers , the feeling of anxiety and fear make you feel short of breath and paneky , and that is the trigger, 
yes stress can put asthma symptoms on overdrive and make it much worse.

: These are excellent questions. Stress, anxiety or other emotions definitely are not the cause of asthma, but they can trigger outbreaks in people with asthma. However, most people experience other triggers as well, especially aiborne pollen or other irritants. If you have asthma, discuss all this with your doctor(s). Good luck!

blue inhaler stopped an 'asthma' attack but my pharmacist says bronchiospasms can be caused by stress without having asthma. is this true?

Maybe: Extreme stress and anxiety can make u wheeze. However, have urself checked out by a physician to make sure what could be the problem. Allergies are a trigger of asthma and I notice u have been using Flonase. Asthma can start at any age and the key to diagnosis is RECURRENCE. By going to a lung specialist you can have lung studies which can make things clearer.

Yes: Stress, or rather increased stress because who doesn't have some stress, makes us less tolerant of chronic medical problems. Stress also adversely affects the immune system. Lack of sleep increases stress further impairing immune function. But asthma is more likely to adversely affect sleep than vice versa. If you're not sleeping well you probably need to look at your overall asthma control.

i have asthma caused by stress and allergies. i can't get rid of the stress or the allergies right now. should i just take albuterol as needed?

Accepted Answer

No: You need additional anti-inflammatory treatment such as inhaled steroids with every albuterol.

Symptoms are the tip of an iceberg. Albuterol decreases your airway tightness but does nothing to treat the underlying cause.

Check with your lung doc.

27 years old with hyperinflated lungs? i have had chronic anxiety and stress and am wondering if this could have caused it or is it asthma or copd?

Anxiety or Asthma: Could be either or both. A visit to a pulmonary specialist would clarify that, following thorough medical exam & pulmonary function tests.

Pittsburgh: The nearest center with expertise in treatment of respiratory disorders would be pittsburgh, pa. You can see any of the lung specialists at upmc. Another alternative would be to find a local speech and language pathologist who can teach you those exercises. Detailed evaluation by a lung specialist might be more useful in the long run.

how do you differentiate between copd and asthma? can stress on top of asthma, allergies, and panic attacks cause copd? i have trouble exhaling fully.

morning vertigo and groggy. i have hashimotos, asthma and lots of recent stress. can poorly managed hashimotos cause sleep issues? tsh 6.5 right now

No: A TSH of 6.5 is borderline but is not associated with any symptoms such as sleep issues.  your doctor might adjust your dose to lower to TSH to &lt;4 but it won't help you sleep better
