: No. Antibiotics in general can all cause c. diff. Some more than others. There are factors about the patient that makes them more susceptible to c. diff. These factors are being over age 65; weakened immune system such as HIV/AIDS, cancer, organ transplant; being on immunosupressant drugs or previous history of c. diff. The young and healthy rarely get c. diff.

Garlic: There are as well reports claiming that use of garlic or garlic extract helped in clearing infection eventually. Otherwise I do not see how using garlic in moderation may significantly affect bowel's flora in order to cause a C diff relapse.

Any ant-biotic can,: The risk is higher w/ broad-spectrum antibiotics - those aimed at a wide range of bacteria  it is also higher  w/ multiple antibiotics or using antibiotics for a long time. Probiotics can help and most folk do get better when they stop use. Possible, unlikely: Vancomycin is seldom taken orally, and when it is it can at least partially treat c. Difficile infection, although it isn't active against spores.  When taken IV it is primarily excreted by the kidneys and little is likely to get into the distal colon unchanged. If it did it will not alter flora significantly and predispose to cl. Difficile overgrowth or toxin production by the vegetative form.

IBS/C. Diff: Small percentage of patients will have linger symptoms after an episode of c. Diff infection or any intestinal infection chronically.  This is known as post-infectious ibs.  Suggest to work closely with your GI specialist to rule out other causes (recurrent or incomplete treatment of infection) and treat your symptoms accordingly.
