No: The resident fungus (pityrosporum orbicularis) on most normal skin can cause seborrhea on some people.  This fungus thrives on oil especially olive oil.  Thus the less oil on the fact , the better.

what can i use for facial seborrehic dermatitis? i don't want to use too much cortisone as prescribed. is essential oil okay?

Seborrheic dermatiti: Cortisone is not the only treatment option. Anti-fungal medication ketoconazole (nizoral) may be used for this condition. Essential oil, unfortunately, is not something known to work, although, it won't probably hurt to try.

i have perioral dermatitis and i work in a factory where i sweat and have dirt, oils and dye from the steel getting in my face and hands. whats the best face wipe i can use throughout the work day to wipe off that gunk off my face?

: It may be wiser to use a plastic face shield to prevent the "gunk" from forming on your face in the first place. And think of all the "gunk" you won't be inhaling.

: You can do an oil treatment, insinuating the coconut oil into the scalp followed by a warm wrap. This can plump up old cells with the oil and help them separate from the scalp when you wash the material out. I would wash it out with a good dandruff shampoo to get all the oil off. Leave some behind and it can make things worse.

Max strength: use max strength selsun blue that is 1% or better is selsun not selsun blue that is 2% and perhaps is still prescription item. Do not use more often than directed

See a dermatologist: Ideally, you prevent an allergic contact dermatitis by avoiding the offending agent. If you are exposed then frequently treatment requires a topical steroid ointment and if severe enough potentially oral steroids.

Need more info: Some patients are very oily and, especially in the teens to early twenties, can have tremendous oil production.  Are you having scaling or itching as well? Those would be the signs of seborrheic dermatitis.  Are you having excessive oil production on your face as well? Acne?  Depending one what else is going on, there may be treatments to help; i'd see a(nother) dermatologist.

What color????????: Black? Blonde? Red? Other? Tar shampoo is not favored by many and may influence hair color because it is black. Why coconut oil? DHS makes a shampoo and conditioner for dyed hair. Why Metrogel? This is not a treatment for seborrhea. Ketoconazole, Zinc pyrethium, and Selenium Sulfide are much more popular with people treating seborrhea.
