: They may have new tests up use every once in a while.  Sometimes it is not possible to say for certain what you have until it evolves some more.  Time will tell.

As one of my old professors used to say: I never told you medicine is easy. In the mean time I would find something you like and can do and do it. Worrying usually does not help.

Nothing to worry: That is a usual observation with a viral infection and usually nothing to worry. But better check with your doc to make sure nothing else is going on.

This make no sense: Please send us your CBC results. There is nothing like a platelet to large cell ratio!!. Give us some more info as to why you had this test in the first place and if you have doctor who can address this issue... it does not make any sense to me,.

No: I would not be concerned.  As long as the platelet count is adequate and hemoglobin and hematocrit ok, little to worry about.  However, it would be nice to know what your platelet count and hemoglobin are.  Hope this helps.

what causes low mean cell hb and high platelets? mines has been low for around 1 year, along with high platelet levels. in august my mean cell hb was 23.6 should be 27-32. and platelet was 463 should be 150-400. now my platelet level is 560 something?

: Iron deficiency can explain all of these. Iron deficiency is common in woman due to menstrual blood loss. Take oral iron and multivitamin supplements. If that does not help your doctor can arrange intravenous iron treatment.

No they are not: Platelets are cells that circulate in the blood which involve in the hemostasis- blood clots formation- to stop bleeding process etc. While white blood cells are are cells of the immune system involved in defending the body against both infectious disease and foreign materials. They are completely different cells.

May be nothing: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, Total white cell count of 11100 by itself is not a disease. Your platelet count is normal. If you do not have any symptoms, you should leave it alone.

Unlikely : Since the platelet count is normal, a low mpv of this degree does not mean much. Clinical correlation is recommended.
