Could be viral: Although usually you have high neutrophils. Narcotics don't have any effect on eosinophils. Your numbers as you report them are unusual enough, that you shoudl definitely talk to your doctor.

Gentle wean: Hydrocodone &amp; oxycodone aren't good long term on the liver. When was the last time your liver function (LFTs) were checked? Knowing what this # is is helpful with determining what 6 years of ingestion has done to your liver. A gentle wean over 5-6 months (cut out a dose each month) is probably what you'll need in order to come off of these without withdrawal issues. It is quite do-able.

Yes: The only pills generally not recommended to cut or crush are time-released longer acting opioid containing drugs, where disrupting the pill effects the time release. For an immediate release drug like Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) (or vicodin, or lortab or any other), cutting it in half is fine.

Chronic back pain: Pain is a challenging thing to manage.  Establishing a goal for pain relief is a start.  Depending on what is the underlying cause of the pain, if the injections did not help, surgery may be an option.  Chronic opioid therapy, with combinations of short acting and long acting meds is an option as well.  Lastly, which ever treatment modality is chosen, you should also entertain the mental toll.

An incomplete treatment will lead to further pain and discomfort due to bacterial infection in the root of the tooth.  A root canal treatment maybe recommended with a full coverage crown following the root canal and coronal buildup.

DEA Hydrocodone Law: 10/6/14 was the last day that medical providers could call in any version of hydrocodone based scripts like your Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen). Because scripts like yours can only be written, this has changed who will write for this type of medicine anymore. It has  forced some admin changes within medical offices. Some have stopped writing for it b/c these scripts are considered to be a headache to deal with now.

Withdrawl: The best way to get off narcotics short term is to taper or reduce dose slowly over days.
The larger the dose and the longer the time taking it will make withdrawal a more difficult task.  You may require professional help and treatment of side effects through the weaning process.
