my wife ate 3 cytotec pills(600mcg) totally. abortion wasn't successful.now,is it logical to continue pregnancy? if yes ,how can i make sure the pills haven't affected the fetus? how can i reverse the effects?

hello,at 5th week of pregnancy i used 3 misoprostol orally afterward i had some spotty bloods. but sonographer told me the sac is not affected by pills. does it affect my fetus if i continue pregnancy? will it be healthy or it'll be defected?

: Get another ultrasound in two weeks, and a serum quantitative HCG to evaluate progression of your pregnancy.  Consult a maternal/fetal medicine physician for guidance.

i used cytotec (misoprostol) to abort but didn't bleed. u/s showed 5 weeks and 6 days fetus but no heartbeat. will 7 weeks fetus on next ultrasound have heartbeat?

Time will tell: No way to predict. If your dates were consistent with a 5wk6d pregnancy chances are pretty good. If the fetus is alive then there should be definite fetal heart activity visible at 7 weeks especially with a vaginal scan. Hope things work out the way you want.

dr. gave me 600mg cytotec (misoprostol) for missed abortion found at 11 weeks. fetus died at 6 weeks. started spotting today. so i still need to take the pills?

Sounds like it: It does not sound like you have passed the fetus. There will be quite a lot of blood. If all you have seen in spotting then that is not likely enough. Follow your doctors instruction.

Didnt work: If Misoprostol did not induce a miscarriage then it is not likely that it will cause harm. It generally has an all or none response

if you take 12 pills of cytotec for an incomplete miscarriage, and then ovulate about 5-7 days after. can it cause any harm to a baby conceived in that cycle? can the cytotec harm the egg that is about to be released?

: If ovulation is detected by a "home test", and pregnancy occurs, the prior use of "cytotec" should not interfere with the pregnancy or the viability of the egg released at ovulation.  See your GYN physician for guidance, as an "incom;lete miscarriage" may cause remaining debris from the miscarriage to cause continued bleeding.

Accepted Answer

No: Misoprostol was initially a drug used to treat stomach ulcers because it causes smooth muscle contraction.  Other than gastrointestinal side effects, there isn't typically a lot of harm associated with the medication.  Having said that, repeated uses or doses of excess quantity could cause harm.  If you aren't sure if you're pregnancy a urine pregnancy test would be able to tell you.

i peed an hour after inserting 800mcg misoprostol vaginally,does it mean that i flushed it out cause i haven't started passing out the fetal tissue yet and it has been 24 already since i took the pills?

Shouldn't affect it: If you inserted it into the vagina properly,  urinating an hour later should not have affected the medication. Chemical abortions do not work 100% of the time. You should contact your OB/GYN or Planned Parenthood very soon regarding what your next options are.

None known.: Although some research has linked excessive histamine release to preterm labor, allergen desensitization injections under the care of a knowledgeable allergy/immunology specialist and in coordination with a maternal-fetal medicine doctor should be safe during pregnancy. I would, however recommend waiting until postpartum for such poorly studied intervention during pregnancy. Better safe than sorry.
