what is the difference between pink and black melanoma?

Amt. pigment: Most melanomas become nodular arising from a flat variegated skin lesion. Although the nodular lesion can arise in a pre-existing mole, it is more common  to develop spontaneously from normal skin.   The colors of nodular melanomas are usually black, blue-black, dark brown, or brown-red. However, occasionally they are red, pink, grey, or light to medium brown depending on amt of melanin pigment.

Nodular melanoma: Can be black, brown, tan or pink (amelanotic, no pigment production).  Called nodular because it immediately begins growing vertically therefore creating a nodule.  Arises rapidly.  Please see a board certified dermatologist and get this checked asap.

Yes it can be: Most melanomas are mixtures of brown/black or tan color. Reddish pink would be uncommon. but watch for changes such as further enlargement in size or changes in color. If it gets bigger, get it removed. You could watch it for  a few months and decide if it needs to be checked by your doctor in order to be certain.

Probable hemangioma: The  common skin lesions to have are related to squamous or basal cell Ca's and appear as sores that scab but don't heal.  Melanoma is not usually a pinkish lesion but dark brown nevus.  It grows laterally by having variegated colors such as brown, black, grey or forms a nodular lesion.  Hemangiomas can appear as small pink skin grows or remain very flat, They cant be popped or if forced to, bleed

See your doctor.: You should have your doctor look at this. It could be an infection which may need to be drained or treated with an antibiotic, but it is difficult to tell without seeing it. If you have a history of melanoma, you may want to have your dermatologist look at it.

i scratched off a weird freckle. it didnt bleed much it scabbed over and is now a pink scar. it healed within a week.. if it was melanoma would it have taken longer to heal? and would there be a pigment where the scar is?

: If you could recall how was the freckle weird, was it growing fast, was it darker or variable colors, did it   have irregular margins, one should be concerned about melanoma. There are other skin cancer top. Basal cell and  squamous cell cancer. If there is any concern for cancer, it is best to go to The doctor and they can decide whether biopsy is needed. i ripped off a tan mole a couple weeks ago and now there is a white area where it was and pink surrounding it. i am terrified i took off a melanoma j cant see a dermatologist for months it did bleed when i took it off but stopped quickly?

: Without a biopsy, it’s impossible to know what is left from the lesion you removed.However, most melanomas are dark, not just tan. Take a pic of the area every month, cover it with sunscreen and clothing, and ask your PCP if their office or a general surgeon could biopsy the area while you wait for the Dermatologist.

red spot on inner knee healed to a pink red scar has taken 3 months to heal but kept scratching it. is this normal healing time? melanoma?

Red spot on knee: Healing and scar disappearance does take a long time, months, sometimes up to a year  or more or a light residual may remain. Constant scratching   is irritating and  prevents proper healing. You could try over the counter silicone cream of strips and see if it helps f/u/ w/ dermatologist
