Get checked: The cold medicine has nothing to do with the bleeding.  By definition you have postmenopausal bleeding which is abnormal until proven otherwise.

if you have bv and take medication(fladgyl)would that cause vaginal bleeding?

Accepted Answer

not a side effect: Bv is treated with Flagyl (metronidazole). If you are pregnant, the preferred form is oral, not the vaginal cream. Vaginal bleeding is not a side effect, so you should have this checked by your ob. (if you are using the cream, this could cause some local irritation, but bleeding would be really rare.).

my child aged 14 years often his nose starts bleeding, can you advise the reason for this and  any medication which could help.

Depends on cause..: Nose bleeds in kids can be caused by a number of things. The number one cause by far is nose picking. Dry skin inside the nose can also be a problem (a little vaseline can help). Friable blood vessels in nose can be cause (need to see ENT to get treatment). Lastly, low platelets can cause pretty severe nose bleeds (>20 minutes). Treatment depends on cause of low platelets.

Which pain med: The only thing that could potentially cause more bleeding is anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen or naproxen, but in reality we actually use them to DECREASE menstrual bleeding because their effect on decreasing menstruation is more pronounced than causing bleeding.

Lysteda: Lysteda may stop the bleeding, but you should plan to have the polyp removed.  A polyp removed from the uterine lining can be done thought the cervix, with no incisions. It is called a hysteroscopic polypectomy.

See below: Iron supplements and bismuth medications can't darken the stool. But in the middle-aged and above, any dark stool needs to be checked by a doctor - the risk of missing cancer is too great, even if also on iron or bismuth.

CALL YOUR DOCTOR NOW: Yes, certain medications can predispose you to GI bleeding for example: aspirin, motrin, coumadin, (warfarin) Plavix to name a few. Call your healthcare provider and inform him of your concern. If you have symptoms by all means go to er: bleeding, fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, dizziness, chest pain. Call your doctor, its never the wrong thing to do.

Not fluconazole: Fluconazole is not a likely cause, and yeast ifections also don't usually cause speotting or bleeding. Any new, unexplained, or abnormal vaginal beleeding requires professional attention. See a doctor soon.

Consult with Gyn: Mid cycle bleeding is a concern.  I would consult with your doctor or gynecologist.  It can be related to vagina, cervix, uterus and ovaries all of which can refer pain to your back.

will blood thinning medication cause bleeding behind the eye?

Anticoagulation eye: Anticoagulation medications like Aspirin and coumadin, (warfarin) will not cause bleeding .  However, if bleeding is started for instance from trauma, blood dyscrasias, or blood vessel anomalies, then bleeding from these sources can be prolonged and exaggerated.  In most cases, the blood thinner should be stopped while the cause of bleeding is addressed.
