Continue seeing M.D.: If you have lupus it needs to be treated and the treatment depends on the extent of the disease. Your doctor will either treat you or send you to a specialist for further tests and treatment. Please don't get discouraged as there are very good treatments available.

Master of masquerade: Lupus is a famous master of masquerade--it can mimmic many disease states. Lupus symptoms may be present much earlier than when it can be diagnosed, thus lab measurements only provide a guide. This only means the lab has its limitation and medical science has only gotten this far. Don't rely on the lab, but rather rely on your bopdy--maybe something else is going on. Consult your doc. Good luck.

See details: I suggest leaving her alone. People have the right to make their own decisions after their health. Brow beating her will only stiffen her resistance.

i have an ana that goes from 1.1 or below up to 1.3. does a fluctuating result like this mean i don't really have lupus?

Not really: ANA results are given as titers. A titer of less than 1:40 is considered normal.  Many people in the general population will have low titers of ANA (1:1 or 1:2) and will not have an autoimmune disease.  95% of people with lupus will have an elevated ANA test.  If your ANA test is negative or low; your chance of having lupus is less than 5% (but not zero).  A diagnosis of lupus requires other tests.

Follow closely: Your surveillance and treatment schedules and contact your treating physician with any sudden changes.  No guarantees, but you will likely be able to resume much of your regular activities.

had intermit fmla x 1yr for lupus/sjrog as i struggled w/ bad flares.now under better control but get unexpected bad days. i don't plan to use but don't want to get fired if i get sick.renew fmla?

Rheumatologist: Go see a rheumatologist and get your disease under control.  If you are seeing a rheumatologist already, get a second opinion.

I would be candid.: I would explain how much these people mean to you but advise them that your health some times limits what you can do with them and the time that you spend together.

Vaginal estrogen!: Vaginal estrogen supply the vaginal mucosa what is needed. There are many lubricants available, but estrogen at the point of need is more important! plus, it does not increase systemic Estrogens by much, since is locally applied!
