daught ate licorice yesterday and today passed 2 stools the 1st one wasn't seen but second had a couple bright red spots could it b from the licorice?

Red Twizzler Poo: I have had at least a couple handfuls of frantic parents over the years concerned over this kind of stool such that I routinely add " Eaten any Twizzlers" to my army of questions I ask when a child has red poop.   Yes, these quite probably are little bits of red licorice you are seeing.

should i be worried about green stool?? it started yesterday. i dont have any other symptoms besides a cold ive had for the past week. only changes in diet has been that i ate a lot of licorice jelly beans, chorizo, and have had some more avocado?

: In the absence of other symptoms such as diarrhea and abdominal pain, green stool in adults is usually the result of something you recently consumed. Common causes include green leafy vegetables, food dyes, and iron supplements. I imagine that the chorizo is culprit. If you develop watery diarrhea that lasts more than 48 hrs, please see a medical provider.

Not normal, get help: Blood in stool is a warning sign. Brisk bleeding warrants emergency care. Causes of bleeding may be predictable (e.g. rectal trauma), but evaluation is always appropriate. A rule of thumb (but not absolute): black stool means bleeding comes from upper GI tract; grape jelly stool from small bowel; silver stool from biliary tree; burgundy stool from right colon; red blood from left colon to anus.

Prilosec: One of the side effects of prilosec is diarrhea, so it can increase transit time of stool  through the intestinal tract and cause lighter colored stools in some cases for as long it is taken.

I don't know how: Red  liquorice impacts the gut. However, black liquorice is sometimes used as a natural remedy for constipation.

Black stool: Eating black licorice is a known cause of black stools. Bile in stool causes green color.  Blood in the upper GI tract acted on by digestive enzymes turns black and this is called melena or melenic stools. The stool will not only be black but "tarry" and sticky and very maladrous. Iron can turn the stool black but not foul smelling and tarry.

Unlikely: However you should avoid this and anything with alcohol in it to drink. You should already have established care with a doctor to monitor you throughout your pregnancy. There isn't anything else you can do, what is done is in the past.

hello, i am taking doxycycline 100 mg twice daily and ive read that it might cause acid reflux. i bought a ginger, licorice, mallow and chamomile tea to avoid this side effect and i was wondering whether it is okay to drink it with the antibiotic?

: Go to drugs.com and look up interaction checker and check. Licorice everyday can cause high blood pressure- mild to severe.
