can i recatch strep throat while finishing keflex for strep?

After, not on: You can be re-exposed to strep and get it again after the antibiotic is out of your system. A proper tissue level in your system prevents strep from establishing in your throat. If your symptoms persist, you may be co-infected with a throat virus like mono that can occur at the same time.

Maybe: Maybe but Strep throat is a Gram positive organism. 
The other meds do kill Gram positive bacteria, many more as well as some Gram negatives. You don't need all those meds. Get a rapid Strep throat swab to see if you need any antibiotics at all.  Some urgent cares have them.  If its a virus neither med will help.  Not good to take left over meds. See a doctor for quickest treatment.

It happens: It is too early to say the meds are not working. If this is truly strep and not mono you will improve soon.Comfort measures with gargling, throat lozenges, chilled fluids can help.Ibuprofen for pain is  helpful. Mono would just take longer to get better.You can have both at the same time.

Check dosage/diagnos: You may be getting suboptimal dose of cephalexin or you may have another problem, as infectious mononucleosis, a viral pharyngitis, can co-exist. Yes pharyngitis pain can spread, but usually abates with the start of treatment after one or two days, goodluck

Test confirmed ??: It would be unusual for a test confirmed strep not to improve within 48hrs unless it presented with a concurrent infection with viruses like mono (which happens). Cancer would be the last thing I would consider.I would call in &amp; schedule a recheck before the weekend to see if a separate issue is present.

Thrush: You may have developed oral thrush, see your doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment. It is not an allergy, it may be a fungal infection of the throat.

Wouldn't self dx: Most sore throats in kids are viral and look identical regardless of cause.Some of the worst looking throats are actually mono.Self diagnosis &amp; treatment are one of the reasons we have so many resistant germs today. Consider finding out whether she needs meds first.

It's actually: a GOOD CHOICE for an antibiotic since it will probably "cover" both infections (both gram positive and gram negative organisms)

You : You are right, it could represent an allergic reaction or it could be from herpes.  A type of a severe allergic reaction called stephen johnson syndrome can cause lesions (sores) on your mouth.  Please be seen immediately and be evaluated for this.

If you are having itching, any shortness of breath, nausea or vomiting, or rash then you need to be seen as an emergency.
