Why ?: I don't understand this combination. Adderall is to be taken in the morning for add, adhd or conditions like narcolepsy. Because Ambien is already sedating - don't know why you would need to add in xanax (alprazolam). Please discuss this thoroughly with your prescribing provider.

I'd Say Yes: A silly little secret is that a lot of medications far outlive their expiration dates (and probably many's lives). Not all, but many and I'd bet Ambien (zolpidem) is one of them. For sure, it won't be toxic to you. Generally if you keep a medication in a cool protected area out of light (like a refrigerator) it will be good for a long time.

Didn't get all the q: It is  probably good to try to get off the ambien because that plus norco is a dangerous combination.  However both can be addictive.  Withdrawal should only be done with the help of a physician.

I too believe your pursuit of sleeping pills will be fraught with failure due to evolving tolerance.  Suggest above.

Yes, in general: If stored under good conditions (appropriate temperature and humidity and light) the medicines are supposed to maintain their potency at least through their experation date (printed on the label). Over time all chemicals can deteriorate. That's most important to be careful with meds for serious conditions such as seizure disorders or high BP. Ambien (zolpidem) is just to make you sleepy, not so serious.

Yes: It is fine to take some melatonin to try and help you taper off the ambien (zolpidem). Getting off the ambien (zolpidem) is a great idea. It can disrupt normal sleep cycles for a long time.
