i stopped taking antibiotics (wisdom tooth extraction - amoxicillin) few days ago, while starting to take pro-biotics.  would it be alright to take multi-vitamins now along side pro biotics?

Yes: It would be fine to take a multivitamin with a probiotic. It woukd be even better to eat a well balanced diet with a lot of vegetables, fruits, legumes and whole grains.

symptoms of bacterial vaginosis didnt go away completely after taking antibiotics(dominal,metronydazole, vaginal suppositories). it'been 6months since i have it. i havent taken any suppositories since january only vitamin c. what should i do...

BV: If you haven't taken oral metronidazole as well as using vaginal suppositories simultaneously, I suggest that you ask your physician or gynecologist to try it. Other recommendations include eating yogurt, taking probiotics and wearing breathable underwear.  Don't douche but you can try inserting an ounce of hydrogen peroxide into the vagina daily for a week.

Yes: You don't say which antibiotic but I am unaware of any adverse interactions between vitamin c and any antibiotics. If you are on an antibiotic you have an infection and vit c generally helps our immune system fight infections. I advise 1-2000 mg 2-3x/day for most people with infections. I also recommend probiotics during and after antibioitics, esp. One with scachromyces boulardii like florastar.

Medication Q's: Some Multivitamins can reduce the serum concentration (effectiveness) of the antibiotic  if taken together so I would recommend taking them several hours apart to reduce the chances of this happening.

Maybe (not) . . .: It's always best to read directions/instructions that came w/medication and ask both pharmacist & prescribing doctors about any questions you might have (especially if need to take on empty stomach). Also make sure they know what else you're taking, including both prescription & non-prescription stuff so they can check for interactions. You can also check online via epocrates.Com & drugs.Com.

Yes, however...: Yes, in fact this is wise if you have an infection as vitamins support your immune system.But one shouldn't take tetracycline or Doxycycline at the same time as multivits, calcium, magnesium or zinc-they should be taken at least 2 hours apart.High doses of vit. C may increase levels of tetracycline/doxycycline but this could help them work better.Vits have no know interactions with other antibiotics.

Yes : Take your medications as prescribed.  Amoxicillin is an antibiotic used for a short time to treat infections. Make sure you take it completely even if you feel better/ do not skip any doses. Common side effects are stomach upset. Report any dark urine or usual weakness/tiredness to you doctor. Keep visits with doctor to monitor vit d levels.Take medications with full glass of water. Take care.
