i take trazodone, neurontin, cymbalta, mobic, (meloxicam) robaxin, and im on an antibiotic. i tested + for benzos. can these cause a false +?

Not likely,: Unless it was a screening test only without confirmation by gas chromatogrophy and mass spectometry which is specific for the molecular structure of benzodiazepines.  If confirmed by gc/mass spec then you must have ingested a benzodiazepine.

taking 50mg trazadone  for sleep.  pulled a muscle exercising and would love to take 10mg cyclobenzaprine  and 15mg meloxicam.  any issues?

Accepted Answer

Yes you can: Trazadone should be taken as prescribed.  Adding cyclobenzapine at 10 mg will be sedating in combination, and may be equally efficacious at 5mg.  Meloxicam is typically taken on a regular basis, with food.   Try taking your Meloxicam in the morning, and use Acetaminophen  at night.  Incidentally, poor sleep can affect your testosterone levels and your risk of injury from sport.  Take care.

Possible interaction: Per drugs. Com there is potential for a moderate interaction:  “using Alprazolam together with trazodone may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment.” however, if you are taking it at bedtime (and not using alcohol) you will most likely do fine.

Trazodone: Trazodone is a sedating antidepressant, not likely effective for anxiety other than inducing sleep.

Yes: As long as you take them as prescribed by your physician there should be no trouble other than the combined sedation of the two.

You may: There is additive effect of sedation other wise  there is low level drug drug interaction between Zanaflex (tizanidine) and trazodone, but overall safe.

Not recommended: There is only one drug interactions between these 2 medications. However, hydrocodone and trazodone both increase sedation and drowsiness. Rec.: consult with your prescribing physician for more information.

Quick and slower: To help you get to sleep, should work that night.  To help you stay asleep, will take longer.  Sleep initiation has more to do with relaxing the mind.  Staying asleep has more to do with chronic worry and/or chronic problems that need to be fixed (manifestations of which may include anxiety or depression).

Trazodone effect: Although trazodone is an ssri, so it should treat depression and anxiety, for most patients it is far too sedating to be used for anything except insomnia. If it does not put you to sleep, it might help anxiety within 1-2 hours after taking it. If it does not help anxiety, try a higher dose, although this likely will put you into deep sleep.Talk with your doctor to find the best anxiety med for you.
