i want to get my tattoo finished but am taking methotrexate and rituxan (rituximab) at the moment, will it cause problems?

Probably: Rituxan (rituximab) and Methotrexate both inhibit your body's defenses.  Any breaks in the skin surface, such as with a tattoo needle, can introduce risk of injection.  This is compounded by immunosuppressive medications such as Rituxan (rituximab) and methotrexate.

while taking rituximab infusions twice a year for multiple sclerosis can i still get body contouring far as (breast augmentation, laser lipo) and tattoos? or will these treatments negatively affect the healing process?

Accepted Answer

: I would ask Physician about your concerns.  The procedures that you would like do have some discomfort associated with them.  Find out when is the best time to have procedures, so there won’t be any “conflict” with infusion procedure.

i have nmo and i want to know if i can get laser lipo? i ask my doctor she doesn't know. i take rituxan four times a year and basically have no other issues in between that time?

: You are being treated, appropriately, with rituxan for your NMO, and hopefully, this is preventing relapses and disability.  However, your medication could be relatively immunosuppressive, which might create concerns if an infection were to be a complication of liposuction procedure.  No absolute contraindication, but this needs to be discussed by a bariatric surgeon and your neurologist.

.: It's likely a reaction to the Rituximab infusion like an allergic reaction.  This could possibly be prevented next time if they infuse the Rituximab slower.

No: Unless the drug is part of a chemotherapy regimen. The use of Rituximab alone does not cause hair loss.

Accepted Answer

Extremely rare issue: Pml is beyond rare and generally occurs only when t cell and b cell agents are used at the same time although it can occur with Rituxan (rituximab) alone. Yes it is worth the risk.

i got kidney transplant in 2010, last month it was rejected, had 10 plasma xchange n 2 dose of rituximab injection, now its normal, when i can get concive?

Fairly risky: Pregnancy is possible for a female kidney transplant recipient whose kidney function is good and stable. Yet, it is still considered a high risk pregnancy for both the mother and the fetus. Although you may be capable of conceiving now, it would be unwise to do so until your function stablizes at a good level for at least 6 - 12 months.

Uncommon: It is uncommon to lose hair with Rituximab therapy.  It can affect the immune system so theoretically, it can indirectly cause hair loss.  However, I have never seen hair loss from Rituximab infusions.  So my final answer would be unlikely.

Uncertain what mmn?: I would like to help but  need more information. Depending on the setting you can use  rituxan (rituximab) to help certain conditions and sometimes other meds  are used. These  are things  to discuss  with your physician.

i am planning to take rituximab for rheumatoid arthritis but my red blood cell count is very low. does rituximab helps to increase blood count also ?

See below: First, find out what causes your anemia. If your anemia is caused by chronic inflammation such as RA, treating the underlying etiology for anemia by Rituximab will eventually lead to an increase red blood cell count. If your anemia is caused autoimmune-medicated hemolysis, Rituximab can also help increase red cell counts. But, Rituximab itself does not have direct effect on red cell production.
