You can: try both together but if not helping in 24-48 hours stop Allopurinol ..take Colchicine alone for 5-7 days then restart Allopurinol ......hope this is  helpful!

Possibly: Some people do well on just Allopurinol for suppressing gout attacks.  Do not stop your medications without consulting your doctor first!

No!!: Allopurinol actually makes a gout attack worse when it's acute therefore you must stop taking that immediately. In combination the Colchicine and diclofenac when they are both anti-inflammatories which will decrease renal function and should not be taken together! please go to your pcp.

: They can be taken together. as to  when you should take it -ask your doc who knows your problem. Also any time a med is prescribed pl ask the prescriber about- why, what to expect when to take and any side effects.

: With that history, I strongly suspect your kidney function is not perfect because you were prescribed steroid for acute gout, not colchicine. I said that because you are taking only 100 mg of allopurinol, a usually adjusted dose for patient with CKD. Even with CKD, you can take both colchicine &amp; allopurinol, with adjusted doses &amp; caution. Without CKD, you are fine to take both as long as needed.

Ask doctor: Allopurinol is a drug given to treat gout, certain types of kidney stones, and can be used during chemotherapy. Whether you can take it is between you and your doctor. You cannot take it without a prescription and a doctor's recommendation.

Preventive: Colchicine (aka Colcrys in the us), Aleve (naproxen) or other nsaids, or low dose Prednisone are acceptable drugs to prevent gout flares while starting allopurinol. Ask your doctor which is best for you.
