Take one dose of 1000 mg of tylenol (acetaminophen) with your xanax now. If this does not help in 2 hours take 600 mg of advil. In the meanwhile take a relaxing bath by candlelight and listen to any soft relaxing music you have. Keep your eyes closed and focus only on the music candid breathing out with. Your mouth open but your lips slightly pursed. Feel the relaxation as it moves from the top of head to toes.

Rather than taking either of these medications, you may help your congestion better by taking steam or water vapor inhalation. 
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.  Drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless.
Practice safe sex. 
Get HPV vaccine.

This combo should not cause a problem. Some alka seltzer does contain acetaminophen (Tylenol), but also should be fine together.   Read each individual package and be sure not to exceed the dosing recommended for either product.

Active Ingredients (in Each Tablet): Anhydrous Citric Acid (1000 mg), Aspirin (325 mg), Sodium Bicarbonate (sodium bicarbonate). If your stomach upset is due to NSAID (ibuprofen) use, what do you think throwing another NSAID (aspirin in the Alka-Seltzer) will do to it?

Alka seltzer plus cold contains 325mg Aspirin (1 adult tablet). Not sure of any other medications you take that may increase bleeding, ulcers, etc  so i cannot comment on time. To be safe 4 hours should be ok.

Try APAP (Tylenol). The other is just more of the same type. APAP acts differently.

Would suggest alternating Acetaminophen 500 mg with Ibuprofen 600 mg every 3h. Total max doses per day 2g for Acetaminophen, 2400 mg for Ibuprofen.  Antibiotics  should be taken as prescribed.

Well, it depends on which alka-seltzer plus was given.  If it was the one with Tylenol, (acetaminophen) then yes he can have another 200mg of ibuprofen at this time.  But if it was the one with aspirin, then I would hold off on giving more anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen, Advil, aspirin, etc.  Generally, he can have up to 800mg of Ibuprofen every 8 hours as needed for pain/inflammation/fever.

Just could not be sold. Might be a little less potent but are just as safe.
