Usually: However, you really need to figure out why you need the enemas in the first place. I do not recommend regular use of enemas or laxatives.

Probably not: It shouldn't but just monitor for abdominal pain, persistent diarrhea, or bloating.  If so, see your doctor.  Usually all you have to do is take a probiotic or eat some yogurt (organic with active cultures).

Why the need?: I can't say i could tell you what it would feel like.  Myself and many other naturopaths and mds that specialize in detox feel enemas are often unnecessary.  Learn how to potentiate the capacity of your liver to detoxify (mthfr and other gene mutations limit this - you may need high doses of activated folate).  Lots of fiber will help toxins exit your body without aggressive enemas.

Fleet: Plain or mineral oil is ok. However, you need to be examined to determine the cause of your recent constipation, with a colonoscopy if you haven't had one in the past few years. Also try eating a high fiber diet and drinking more fluids and less caffeine and alcohol both of which contribute to constipation.

Sex: Doctors are not the right ones to approach when asking about techniques for sex. There are very important ethical boundaries here. Medicine has no opinion on how, when, or with whom you gave sex. Enemas, however, are to be taken just prior to you needing them to work.

i have not had s problem moving my bowels,  until two days ago. i am regular with normal stools. in a few instances, i have difficulty eliminating. today, after an enema i passed hard pebble like stool. not normal amount. thisnis rare. ?

Bowel change: Since this is a change in your usual bowel pattern, it shouldn't be ignored and a colonoscopy may be in order. Your stools suggest recent constipation and if increasing fluid intake and fiber or Metamucil in your daily diet doesn't get you back to normal regularity, it's important to be evaluated by a gastroenterologist. If you haven't had a screening colonoscopy, this is a good time to get one.

Bowel backed up: This is abnormal and you may have a partial obstruction or a problem with your colon.  You need to call your doctor for advice and get a check up asap to see what the cause of the problem is. If you can not see a doctor or iF you suddenly get a lot worse go to ER.

Try: A Fleet mineral oil enema. hold it in for 30 minutes if possible and lying on your left side with feet on a pillow above your hips. Once cleared, to avoid recurrence, make sure you are drinking 80-100 oz of caffeine free/alcohol free fluid daily.
