By not smoking: If you smoke, however they do the test (blood, urine or oral fluids), it will be positive.  Ways to "beat" drug-testing mostly don't work, are detectable by current systems and make it worse for you.  If you are a smoker, you are responsible for the consequences of your smoking. Helping you avoid consequences is NOT helping you. Get help quitting tobacco.

Don't smoke: Cotinine persists for 3-5 days, depending on whether they are testing urine, blood or oral fluids.  There are far more important reasons to stop smoking, like your health and living a longer life, and not smelling like an ashtray.

You already have: cotinine, the main metabolite of nicotine, is pretty much gone from blood in 2-3 days, and from urine in 3-4 days, and nothing should be detectable after a week.  If they are doing hair follicle tests, however, nicotine use can be detected going back several months.

Possibly: It can take up to 15-20 days to clear your system of cotinine if you are a heavy smoker, would give it 3-4 weeks to be certain

Most probably yes: Cotinine is short-acting and can be found for 2-4 days after smoking or consuming tobacco or nicotine-containing products.  Most cigar smokers don't inhale, but some nicotine may be absorbed through the mucus membranes of the mouth and throat. However, whatever small amount is absorbed will be gone in 2-3 days. I am concerned about any use of tobacco products.  Consider stopping completely.
