Avoid these: Older antihistamines like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) interact with many drugs. Don't mix it with alcohol, sleeping pills, sedatives, antidepressants, potassium supplements, sodium or potassium phosphate, antipsychotics, MAO inhibitors, symlin (pramlintide), sodium oxybate, Precedex (dexmedetomidine) & abilify (aripiprazole). Loratidine and fexofenadine are as effective & much safer. Discuss this with your doctor.

No good OTCs: 55 yo female with difficulty sleeping due to loud noise and wants to know what to mix with benadryl (diphenhydramine). First of all, benadryl (diphenhydramine) is not a good medicine to rely on for sleep. The effects only last a few hours, might help you fall asleep but won't keep you asleep. There are no OTC meds I would recommend for sleep. You should try ear plugs for noise. Please see your primary care physician for further recs
