A member asked:

Was wondering if it was safe to mix ranitidine and benadryl (diphenhydramine) together and give to my one year old like that?

Yes: But why does he need ranitidine? I know of no reason why these medications cannot be taken together and thus the mixing is likely ok.

Mgt: They can be given as recommended by your pediatrician. They should be given separately rather than mixed in my opinion. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is not for cold symptoms-- if your child is having an allergic reaction, please see your PCP right away.
