Yes. Latency is 3-6d: Any contact with an active herpes lesion (cold sore, wart, etc.) can lead to transmission of the herpes simplex virus, so yes it is possible to get oral herpes, especially if your partner was ever infected. The incubation period is generally 3 days to about 1 week, so at 3 months I think you're out of the danger zone. However, reinfection and reactivation of virus can occur, so practice safe sex.

Need Rx if new: If a new infection with severe symptoms (multiple sores, sore throat, swollen nodes, etc), you need Rx ASAP with an anti-herpes drug like valacyclovir. If recurrent cold sores, it's too late; they'll heal soon. You can transmit to a partner by kissing or oral sex, if s/he hasn't previously had the same herpes type (probably HSV1). Transmission risk highest during outbreak, low risk at other times.

Oral sex: herpes ?'s: Oral and genital herpes are different immunologic varients, but are both transmitted by genital or oral contact with the virus.  If you did not have an actual outbreak, virus is still communicable. Whether oral or genital (Herpes I or II) the transmission of either is possible by saliva via a mucus membrane contact.

Possible but unlikel: Hi Roy. It's possible for someone to shed the herpes virus and be asymptomatic. People with oral herpes may secrete the virus 2% to 9% of the time when they are not having sores. That being said, if they are asymptomatic and secreting the virus, the amount of virus being shed is much less. You can be tested for infection.  I would recommend knowing your sex partner And both of you testing  for STD

Autoinoculation: I think you're asking if your own herpes could be transmitted by your partner's penis to your mouth. There is no risk at all. Infection of a new body part with HSV is called autoinoculation. It is very rare once herpes has been present more than a few months; the immune system prevents it. You probably couldn't infect your own mouth even if you tried. No worries!

Should not use: Simplex virus needs body fluids to survive , possible to get infected from wet brush , you should not use other people brush to maintain simple hygiene . Oral and genital herpes simplex belong to different genotypes but can cross barriers.
