Next day: If you are a pilot, the restriction relates to the anesthetic used.  No flying for 24 hours after sedatives and narcotics.  As a passenger, you can fly the next day, also.

i had my colonoscopy 2 days ago and need to fly for 5 hours+ in 3 days. i had my polyps (3 small ones less than 5mm) removed during the colonoscopy. is it safe? i do not have any abnormal symptoms now?

Ok: If the colonoscopy involved only screening, no significant surgery or complications I don't think a d&amp;c would be contraindicated. You could also ask your gynecologist for his/her advice.

i was told to not fly for two weeks after removing a polyp during a colonoscopy. is this really necessary?  i have a business trip planned in 4 days.

Probably not: If your colonoscopy was without incident, uneventful, and if your recovery has been that way also, I believe you should be able to go to your business trip. However, please let your doctor know about this and take his advice also.

Rx?: If not, the biggest threat might be legal. Also you don't mention the likely strength or the amounts. Never be excessive. If you're in a safe place - the physical effects should not present a problem in moderation I hope it all goes well.

will a barium test show all of the stool in the small and large intestines? is it typical to have one performed weeks before the first colonoscopy?

No and no: Barium is a contrast agent which helps the visualization of the bowel during X-ray studies. When given as an enema, it helps for large bowel(colon) examination.Orally, it can help for small bowel evaluation. Neither route is useful for imaging BOTH large and small bowel.If the patient has taken proper bowel preparation measures, there is in fact no stool in the bowel to degrade the visualization.

my son was told after a colonoscopy, that his small intestines were on one side of his body and his colon on the other.  his birth weight was only 4lbs and 5 oz. born only two weeks early he was considered full term. can this cause problems later?

Hard to know: The colon is part of your intestine so i'm not sure what your son was really told.  I suspect that he was told he has a malrotation (though this is difficult to tell from colonoscopy).  This is a dangerous condition and needs to be surgically corrected asap- to be able to say more i'd need to know the medical terms that were used.

for the last three months, i've had bloating after each meal coupled with thinning stool and constipation.  i had an endoscopy (normal), colonoscopy (removed 3 pollips), emptying test (normal), and so far one week on xifaxan for sibo, no improvement.

Bloating: Is the emptying study for the stomach or  gallbladder? Did you have CT of abdomen? Would check gallbladder and pancreas, discuss use of creon ( pancreatic enzymes), do food diary. Consider elimination diets  one week all mild products ,one week all gluten products, one week all soy products. Also consider food allergy testing and nutriion consult. F/u/ w/ doc .

Intermittent chills?: Do you have a history of recent foreign travel to an area of the world where you might have contracted malaria. It is a disease which is notorious for having people on a roller coaster of fever- no fevers. Different parts of the world have different types which are treated differently. Check CDC website for most up to date info.
