See below: Hiv is a virus that may lead to aids, or a severe dysfunction in the immune system.  Hiv in and of itself does not usually present with muscle aches; some of the diseases the patient may contract if his immune system is not working may cause this.  So the short answer to the question is - no.  If you are concerned about hiv, see your doctor soon for a blood test!

HIV: Very unlikely. However, it doesn't hurt to get it tested for peace of mind if you have risk factors.

Seroconversion: Seroconversion can take up to 6 months, so a negative test at 8 weeks post-exposure is no guarantee that you do not have HIV.  I hope you were able to receive appropriate post-exposure chemoprophylaxis.  Muscle aches and swollen glands are vague symptoms that could be caused by a number of different viral infections, or could be an early sign of acute HIV infection.  Please see Dr. for more tests.

: If 4th generation test negative 3 months post exposure, your negative (for HIV). There are other STD’s - eg., syphilis. See an ID doctor

: This isn't a characteristic symptom of HIV but can indicate inflammation of muscles and autoimmune disorder.  . Fibromyalgia causes muscle aching at rest&amp; isn't an autoimmune disease.  A rheumatologist is best to evaluate and advise you. Appropriate testing will be ordered. If you're still concerned about HIV get tested.

: Neither HIV nor any other STD causes muscle aches. And of course HIV isn't possible after if you both tested negative. Why would you think your new partnership is the cause of these symptoms? There must be a hundred more likely causes.
