had blood drawn @ docs office and sent to lab. results on patient portal says hiv 1/2 ab above neg result. saw a list of tests done by this lab online and it only lists hiv ag/ab test. possibly my test was actually ag/ab then? called office no help?

: Sorry, this can't be sorted out with the info provided. Ask the lab if the doctor's office still can't explain. However, if the test was done long enough after your last possible exposure (8 weeks or more), the Ab only and AgAb test results are equally reliable. The only difference between them is 6 weeks versus 8 weeks.

i've read online that corticosteroids can effect an hiv test. i take flonase and have been told that flonase will not effect my hiv test results. is true flonase won't effect my results? if it is, why

Will not affect test: Flonase is a local steroid, will not affect HIV testing results.

i had unprotected sex with a woman,she had bleeding during whole sex. after 3 months,hiv combo test was non reactive,i look up online and it says when blood is involved such as transfusion the risk is %100 . should i trust the results?

: Yes, trust the results. The HIV blood tests are 100% conclusive at 3 months, regardless of the risk at the time of exposure.Anyway, it is statistically unlikely your partner had HIV. And if she did, blood during sex does not increase the HIV transmission chance compared to sex without blood contact. (The risk of HIV from transfusion with HIV infected blood is an entirely different issue.)

i took the same day online std testing | stdcheck.com (http://stdcheck.com) hiv rna test 12 days after exposure. they claim 9599% accuracy at 911 days after exposure, the result was negative. can i be pretty confident with these results?

: Pretty confident, yes -- but not 95-99% as the lab claims. More like 90% for an RNA test at 9-11 dys. If it was a truly high risk exposure (e.g. anal sex with another male, vaginal sex with a known infected female), also have an AgAb (4th generation) blood test after a few weeks.

i took hiv combo architect at 79 days after the risk getting blowjob by a girl. the result was s/co :0,630-negative. can i conclude that i'm safe ?

Yes, conclusive: The combo test is conclusive any time 4 weeks or more after exposure, so your negative result proves you were not infected. You really didn&#x27;t need testing. HIV is rarely if ever transmitted mouth to penis. Anyway, no worries!

HIV tests: Any test has the potential to be inaccurate.  However the tests for HIV are pretty reliable, particularly the PCR test, which is a direct test for the presence of the virus.  An antibody test can potentially give a negative result if it is done too soon after the infection happens.  Repeat testing is one way to increase confidence that the results are accurate, whether for HIV or anything else.

HIV testing: You should discuss your HIV test results with your doctor and if you doctor is unsure of the results, you should be seen by an HIV specialist.  (most commonly an infectious diseases doctor or someone experienced in caring for individuals with hiv).

Well, was the HIV: Testing done after the window when you could have the disease but still test as negative? Discuss with your physician.

Fast and conclusive: In office rapid test 30 minutes (not always conclusive). Laboratory, western blot to be sure that HIV antibody is present, takes 1-3 days.
