No direct link: It is possible however that some patients have an exaggerated heart rate response to pain or irritation in the esophagus induced by the acid reflux. The heart rate response maybe related an autonomic system response or secondary to anxiety.

could anxiety be causing a pulse in my vision? my vision gets blurry for a sec, and i feel a pulse in my head/see it. it happened maybe 40x today. 32 yo f, gerd, crohn's, migraines, history of lyme disease, gad, depression, sinus tachycardia?

: This could be a type of migraine or it could be a manifestation of anxiety. You should have your doctor evaluate this to find out what is causing these symptoms. You might need to see a neurologist to be certain. Good luck to you!

Monitor: I recommend wearing an outpatient cardiac monitor that will record your heart activity for 48 hours. Note in the diary every time you exercise and/or feel palpitations so that the exact heart rate and rhythm will be identified at the time of symptoms and exercise. This will determine whether you are experiencing significant cardiac arrhythmias. Urge to urinate may accompany paroxysmal tachycardia

Yes it can: If there is sufficient reflux, the irritation to the esophagus or actual aspiration of stomach contents can lead to a feeling of choking.  You should avoid eating late at night and make sure that you avoid acidic foods and alcohol, and sleep with you head elevated on a couple of pillows.  See a surgeon if the symptoms persist, for definitive repair.

GERD: Patients react to gerd and symptoms of hiatal hernia in different ways.  Anxiety is generally not a symptom but esophageal spasm from the acid or tiny bits of acid aspirated into the airways could give the sensation of anxiety.  I would recommend a history and physical examination by primary care physician in a trial of a proton pump inhibitor. If the anxiety persists after this medication trial then it may be a separate issue.

Yes: Gerd is well known to possibly responsible for a hoarse voice. Having said that, there are also many other causes of hoarseness. Getting the stress under control would probably go a long way to help the whole symptom complex. Best of luck.

can an inflamed liver cause gastritis and gerds? what causes an inflamed liver in a 10 yr old who eats normal foods? how is an inflamed liver treated?

Hard to know: The most common cause of liver inflammation in children is viral hepatitis. Although some children are vaccinated for hepatitis b and hepatitis a, there are other types of viruses which can cause inflammation also. Check with your doctor for more information. Most viral hepatitis will resolve on its own. If your child is vomiting frequently, have him checked by the doctor.

can slouched posture, forward head posture, and sitting at a computer all day for years cause gerd? if i fix my posture will the gerd symptoms go away

Accepted Answer

Anything that: Causes increased intra abdominal pressure is bad for gerd.  Nothing is a guarantee, but changing your posture is simple enough--try it, maybe it would help your symptoms, even if it doesn't make it go away completely.  Your posture is probably bad for your back anyway.

Possible: Anything that causes adrenaline release (like pain from reflux) can exacerbate palpitations.
