having peripheral neuropathy on right side waist area with a slight bulge. very painful. had kyphoplasty on 10/04. bulge is not gastrointestinal or hernia or gallbladder. what can it be? neurosurgeon isn't helpful?

: The tender bulge has nothing to do with peripheral neuropathy, I think. If you had been examined by a doctor and the mentioned problems were ruled out, you need to have either ultrasound or CT for further evaluation. A tender mass is somewhat consistent with an abscess but neurosurgeon should easily recognize it.

If you do have stone: in your Gallbladder, the most important thing is that you address this first. While seeing the surgeon, hopefully you can speak about your attempts at weight loss and they can make some suggestions to  you.  would think that a good exercise regimen starts with eating healthy, walking, and pretty much taking it from there. Obstructive syptoms: Not infrequently patients with previous surgery can develope adhesions whick can obstruct bowel. Early sx pain nausea vomiting and diarhea . I urge you to call you physician.

had gastric bypass. egd clear. ultrasound shows sludge in gallbladder. can sludge still cause me pain in my right side and extreme nausea after eating?

Possibly.: Usually sludge in the gallbladder doesn't cause pain (gallstones can).  However, it may be that your gallbladder isn't functioning properly.  The best test to have done is a HIDA with cholecystokinin (a special nuclear medicine test that tells whether the gallbladder empties properly).  Your primary care doctor can order this, or your surgeon.  If positive, taking the gallbladder out can help.

Yes: It is not common. But I have seen gallbladder cause problems on the left side of the abdomen.

Dumping syndrome : When you eat a big meal the liver passes bile directly into the intestines and this may be causing the discomfort. G Luck

See your doctor. : This could be many things. Ulcer, gastritis, pancreatitis, liver problem. Need to get tests.

Not usually: Most of the time the pain is in the right upper quadrant of the belly. However I have seen the pain in the chest, the right lower quadrant and the left upper quadrant of the belly. Just like heart attack pain, it can be from the teeth to the testicles.

Many things: Many things can cause this such as stomach or small bowel ulcers, right lung pneumonia, musculoskeletal pain from pulled muscle and or bruised ribs.  Primary bile duct stones (gallstones that develop in the main bile duct instead of the gallbladder) are also a rare cause.  In addition, spasm of the valve that opens the bile duct can also cause this pain. See your doc if the pain continues.

what causes pain on the right side under the rib age? my gallbladder has been removed. is this acid reflux or gastritis?

RUQ pain: There still could be stones in the biliary tract, adhesions from your surgery, cysts,abscess,liver pathology. I recommend consulting a gastroenterologist for evaluation. Appropriate testing will be done.
