Variable: To the stomach: 15 seconds. To the small intestine: 60 minutes to several hours. To the large intestine and evacuation: 24-72 hours but all of the above is variable and depends on what you eat, your state of hydration, meds you take, your habits, age, health,  and other factors.

Depends on the cause: Avoiding lactose,  gas-producing food (e.g. Beans, onions, celery, carrots, raisins, bananas, apricots, prunes, brussel sprouts, wheat germ, pretzels, and bagels), certain carbohydrates and gluten may help.  Determine if there is food allergy and avoiding those specific foods may help. There is no one answer; trial and error.

1-4 hrs: The stomach will typically empty most of your meal in to the small intestine by 4 hrs. However emptying begins within the first hour so your small intestine may start to "see" your meal soon after eating.

Increase fiber: Constipation is common during pregnancy. Hormonal changes, mainly increase in progesterone, causes relaxation of the intestines leading to constipation. Try increase consumption of foods high in dietary fiber such as fruits - apples with the skin, bananas, blue berry, black berry, etc. Colace, (docusate sodium) a stool softener, taken 2-3 times per day may also help.

i seem to get horrible diarrhea a few times a month now. what kind of food would be good for my bowel if it's ibs?

IBS: IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion.  You need to have parasitic diseases, celiac, food allergies and inflammatory bowel disease ruled out along with other problems such as an overactive thyroid.  Helpful foods are bananas, rice (white), apple sauce, tea and dark toast.  Fiber such as psillium is sometimes helpful by bulking the stool

Not likely in USA: You are very highly unlikely to get parasites by eating restaurant food in the us.

Yes: The food is indeed in the stomach, small intestine, or colon. The pain can be from those and other places. For example, pain can be in the esophagus but the food should already have moved into the stomach. Pain can be in the gallbladder, but food doesn't go in there. Pain can be in the pancreas, but food doesn't go there either. Pain is a sign that something is not right... so a doctor can check.

Gastroenterologist: Many things may cause this "dyspepsia" such as gastritis/ulcers, gall bladder disease, inflammation, and delayed stomach emptying (gastroparesis).  You should start with seeing your local gastroenterologist to review your symptoms, history, and medications, and to be examined to determine treatable causes.

Variable: Depending on what you eat, it could be in the stomach pouch (this is what doctors call stomach).  The food then goes through the small intestine and on to the large intestine, usually 2-3 days, faster with food intolerance.  If you have a food intolerance like a gluten enteropathy, food will move faster through the intestines.  If you have a food intolerance, you may develop symptoms you describe.

i have blood in stool or undigested food. but i have no other symptoms should i get checked out. water doesnt turn red after bowel movement. age 16?

Evaluation: You need to refer to gastroenterology to be evaluated and may have colonoscopy to find the cause so be treated.
