i have had a swollen lymph node behind ear and cough for 4 weeks. not bigger. i did have eczema on scalp but now better, should i worry?

No, watch &amp; wait: Check the node every couple of weeks. If it doubles in size, other nodes become enlarged, the node becomes warm and painful, or if you lose weight, then see a doctor. It may take a few months for the node to shrink even after the eczema has cleared.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex. 
Get HPV vaccine.

Yes : if you have an irritation the lymphnode might swell the occipital nodes  drain the scalp

Sign of Infection: Infection- visit primary doctor for any evidence of yellow crusting open lesions to make sure there is no underlying infection. These infections may be treated with either topical antibiotics such as bactroban (mupirocin) and may even need oral antibiotic course.

Don't scratch!: I know... That is much easier said than done. But it is still true. If it is bad , see a dr. Anyway, you do need to prevent infection. Wash delicately w/ warm water. Use antibiotic cream, cover lightly. After that is resolved, obtain as effective as possible cortisone ointment to keep the itching under control. Eczema can be very difficult to eradicate, but it can be controlled. Don't scratch!

i've bn recmnded advantan scalp solution by my dermatologist to treat my scalp eczema. i'm now on the 2nd course of the soltn as the eczema is still present. will this steriod soltn cause my skin and hair to thin whilst treating the eczema?

Don’t use too often: What was the frequency of application recommended?
You can use the scalp steroid solution every night for a week or 2, then as the condition improves use it every other night or twice a week &amp; then as needed.
Skin atrophy is a risk from overuse of the steroid. Too frequent application of high potency steroids

when ever i go in sun i get eczema like changes in external ear canal. i observed some changes in scalp too when i take hot showers is there anything i can do other than avoiding these precipitating causes or applying steroids? thanks?

Need to examine: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your information is suggestive of inflammation, may be allergic inflammation, rather than lymphoma.

Eczema: I suppose you have already seen derm and know this is eczema.  Control can be achieved by increasing potency of steroid and using a liquid or foam rather than ointment. Medication must get to scalp to be effective. Tacrolimus may be used as a steroid sparing agent. However, most patients with eczema refractory to treatment are actually not using meds as prescribed and following standard skin care.
