i was given duphaston 20mg daily for 14 days after my iui. i got my periods 2 days late. does this medication delay periods?

Duphaston  and IUI: Duphaston is used to support the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle (the full cycle lasts on average 28 days)  for in vitro fertilization.   I am assuming that the attempt failed since you got a period.   It is also used to treat heavy bleeding and irregular bleeding. I don't think the two are related except to indicate that the IUI did not take this cycle.   Check with your OB to be sure.

i'm have stopped duphaston after 3 days which i took 2 pills a day, but still no period,after stopping it now 3 days delay.

Not enough: You probably did not expose your uterine lining to enough days of progesterone to induce your period.  5 days would be considered a minimum exposure and that does not even work for some women.  Typically I recommend a 10 day exposure of progesterone.  Usually 2-3 days after finishing you get your period.

Check with Ob-Gyn: Dydrogesterone (duphaston) prevents the heavy bleeding from dysfunctional uterine bleeding and irregular cycles. One can check with the prescribing doctor to see how likely or unlikely it is that menses will be delayed in a specific patient.

Depends: It depends how the prescription was written. Typically one would have a period when they withdrawal from Progesterone.

It's possible: Duphaston is a synthetic progestin use to treat a number of gynecologic conditions eg dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, endometriosis, luteal support in female infertility, etc. Any supplemental ovarian hormone may cause some degree of menstrual irregularity. I wouldn't worry about a 2 days difference in the menses monthly.

I dont: use that med in the US, but it is a progesterone after looking it up.

Yes it could delay your period.  However, let's hope you are pregnant.

Duphaston: is a PROGESTERONE and Primolut is an ESTROGEN...Since you started on one of them already CONTINUE...One is not "better" than the other just "different:"

: If you had sex since your last period and missed your period by 4-5 days, do a home pregnancy test. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days, unless you get a period. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. 
Get HPV vaccine.

Accepted Answer

Ovulation: The goals of these medications is to promote ovulation in those who do not normally ovulate. If you ovulated then you will either get pregnant or have a normal cycle. If they fail to provoke ovulation then an irregular period should be expected.
