Usually not: Saliva generally has a low concentration of truly dangerous pathogens.  On the intact corneal and conjunctival surface you have antibodies which neutralize many pathogens.  Getting blood splashed into the eye is a different story which can transmit HIV and hepatitis.  Just wash your eye out and  you should be ok.

can you get hiv if spit from another person accidentally flew into your eye? what if he had a cut in his mouth/gum disease? i could not wash my eyes

No risk: This is one of those theoretical risks that has never been known to happen. Don't worry about it. Of course if you are otherwise at risk or concerned you could have HIV, get tested. But not because of this event.

if i spit in a sink on a toothpaste stain and a drop of water (maybe mixed with toothpaste used by another) cames back in my eye can i get any disease?

Very unlikely: It would be technically a possibility but very unlikely.

It's possible.: hepatitis B virus is spread through bodily fluid contact, so this is possible, if you have not had a complete series of hepatitis B vaccines, or if you are not immune from previous exposure. If in doubt, get checked out.  Good luck.

See details: This is unlikely to cause any issues other than a localized eye irritation or infection. It is more likely to cause no issues.

Infections: Different viruses &amp; bacteria enter our bodies thru different pathways. In addition to what you've noted, don't forget sexually transmitted diseases eg genitals as another source of entry. To specifically answer your question, yes, bacteria can cause an infection of the outer ear aka swimmer's ear. Best way to avoid infections is to wash your hands. And get your vaccination status updated.

my son has strep and he coughed and a little spit got in my eyes.  can i get strep in my eye.  what are the symptoms that i should look out for.

Strept: It is possible to get strept through any mucous membrane. Check with your doctor if you have a sore throat, fever over 101, or redness or drainage from your eyes.

Get tested, wear ppg: Your client is HIV + and splits which is unfortunate.  You would be best served to wear personal protected gear which would include side shields on your glasses.  The presents of blood from periodontal disease, gum disease, puts you at higher risk.  It would be prudent to get tested for HIV.

Yes, but unlikely: Yes, it is possible but unlikely.  The spit would have to contain infectious organisms which would have to find purchase. The tears also rinse bacteria and such away. Bacteria landing on the eye usually get bound by antibodies in tears then rinsed through the punctum to the back of the nose, down the throat, to the stomach where strong acid kills them.
