Treats, rather......: Cymbalta (duloxetine) is used for treating anxiety but has side effects like dizziness that may make some patients more uncomfortable. Even though most patients need up to 60 mg, some patients do well on 30mg.  A Cymbalta (duloxetine) to Luvox switch is possible but there may be a worsening of symptoms for which the original medication was prescribed during the switch  depending on duration/severity of medication/illness.

Yes: It has some anticholinergic effects including dilitation of peripheral blood vessels which can cause hot flashes &amp; sweating.

60 mg of : Cymbalta (duloxetine) could possibly cause a bipolar patient to flip into hypomania or mania (which might be interpreted as anxiety).  If you feel worse on Cymbalta (duloxetine) please let your prescribing provider know promptly. Anxiety can occur with  Cymbalta (duloxetine) with or without the  presence of bipolar disorder.

Unlikely: Duloxetine has a small chance of weight gain, but most people don't get it.  If you do get it, rest assured that the medicine can be stopped, or a counteracting medicine can be prescribed.

Any or All: Those 3 medications are called antidepressants and work similarly, regulating Serotonin, epinephrine and some Dopamine. That is why not only going up but coming down on the dose can cause those symptoms. Check with your Doctor, you may have to go slower!

Good chances: There's reason to hope that it will and many alternatives to try if it doesn't. There's also - and I believe this is most important - supportive/coaching psychotherapy with a specialist Health Psychologist. Your cancer Dr may be able to refer you but they really make a difference!Of course this is crazy stressful in many ways. It's worth getting ALL the help you can. I hope all goes well !

i am taking cipro (ciprofloxacin) and flagyl for colitis. i have anxiety and take cymbalta and ativan prn. could either antibiotics cause strong fast heartrate?

Not the meds: It's probably the colitis, not the meds. Measure your actual pulse and BP and report these. Let's see how "strong and  fast" your heart rate really is.

Cymbalta (duloxetine) dosing: Cymbalta (duloxetine) is an antidepressant of the snri class which is manufactured in 20, 30 and 60 mg capsules. Depending on the patient&#x27;s needs, it will be prescribed on any of those strengths or its combinations, most likely 60 mg if needed to control symptoms of anxiety, depression and pain. Therefore, 30 mg could be enough or not depending upon the person &#x27;s response to treatment.

DEPRESSION: Cymbalta (duloxetine) is used to treat depression.If you feel anxious, you need another rx for anxiety neurosis like ativan, or any nerve pill depending on how nervous you are. You can also take rx that will treat both anxiety and depression. Make sure you are not drinking a lot of coffee, pop or  other stimulants that  promotes anxiety.
