Too young for crying: A 2-month-old baby is still too young to be left crying. Parents should still do all the things they need to do to console the young baby. They should be sure the baby is not too hungry, not too full, not too cold, not too hot, not sick, not wrapped too tightly, and not too lonely. After the baby turns 3 months, parents can start stricter "bedtime" routines, as by then, most babies can be trained.

HPV: Human papilloma virus (hpv) causes papillomas on the vocal cords in infants and older children.   Please discuss the likely method of acquisition and any treatment with your child's doctor.  There are over 60 strains of hpv that can cause laryngeal papillomatosis.  Perhaps in the future the hpv vaccine might be able to provide some measure of prevention.

Either or both: Cab drivers, for instance, may develop vocal cord polyps (growths) from recurrent screaming (at other motorists)  this starts as swelling and inflamation. Polyps can go on to become malignant tumors in rare cases. 
This needs to be looked into if symptoms persist.

Yes: High reflux or laryngeal-pharyngeal reflux (lpr)  is one of the most common causes of hoarseness.  The strong acid that comes from the stomach can cause chemical injury to the true vocal folds.  An appropriate drug such as Prilosec (otc) or Nexium (esomeprazole) and a visit to a GI specialist is in order.  An ENT doctor can also treat you.

Never: I am not sure what you mean.  There is no laryngologist that would remove the vocal folds unless you had carcinoma of both vocal folds.  If you mean you have a lesion on a vocal fold that causes hoarseness such as a nodule, polyp, hemorrhage, granuloma, you need an ENT doctor.  If your question is as you pose it, you would wind up with aphonia, complete absence of your voice.

Not really .: Your vocal cord is small structure in the airway . It does not change size by changing your body position

Tough question: It is hard to know what structures in your throat are causeing dicomfort. It may not be the vocal cords themselves. If the syptoms do not respond to simple measures right away i would see your doctor. Certain blood pressure meds can cause persistent throat itchiness. You might be having an allergic reaction to something. You might have an infection or a vocal cord polyp.

It depends: What is the cause? Transitory paralysis may occur under certain situations. Damage to the recurrent laryngeal nerve can be reversible. Again it depends on the cause. Also neuromuscular conditions like myasthenia gravis can be treated.
