as a lupus patient who has a lot of chest pain, how do i tell the difference between pericarditis and costochondritis ?

Inflamation: Pericarditis is inflamation of the sack around the heart. Pushing on your chest will not reproduce the pain. Some changes in position will. Costochondritis is inflamation in the chest wall. Applying pressure will cause the pain to increase.

i have painful tendon subluxation in numerous joints, chronic tendonitis, chronic costochondritis, chronic bronchitis, and chronic bursitis. i tested negative for juvenile arthritis and lupus. what else could cause this?

Inflammation: Sounds like you have stiffness and irritation in many places. An action step worth taking would be getting food allergy testing. Dietary changes can be quite helpful for many people. Your gut determines 80% of your immune function. So, if not eating the right food your bodies inflammatory response constantly turned on.

Sometimes: With lupus, sometimes the immune system does not function properly and one can end up with recurrent sinus infections. There are many more common causes for chronic sinusitis than lupus though, allergies rank first.

Rare if possible: Temporal arteries is an inflammatory vasculitis that can obliterate the head blood vessels like the temporal artery (large sized). Systemic lupus can cause vasculitis &amp; more often involves smaller caliber vessels in the kidneys, finger tips and organs. Medium sized arteries are rarely affected, &amp; large vessels are not involved in lupus.

Yes but...: Lupus flare up can cause inflammation of the pleura and pericardium (sack around the lungs and heart respectively) which can cause chest pain.   However it is important that you see your doctor  to be sure there is no coexisting coronary artery disease as well.

Dime sized lesions: Excellent question.  I would see a Dermatologist ASAP  full history and exam. If lesions are on the palms of the hand or soles of the feet secondary syphilis should be ruled out/other causes.If the lesions are the size of a dime erythema multiforme may be a more likely diagnosis. However, in person exam with lab testing important. SLE/Lupus variants are diagnosed w lab tests, valid SLICC criteria

have costochondritis, suddenly finding it difficult to breath, is this normal? its worrying as i havent had this symptom previous nights

Maybe: Costochondritis may cause pain with deep breaths, but if the pain is severe or persists, I would recommend being checked out to make sure nothing else is going on that could be more serious.
