No: The hpv vaccine, popularly know as a cervical cancer shot, has no hormonal effect and does not change the menstrual cycle.  The vaccine is not a contraceptive either.

Make new appointment: You can still just finish the series - you don't have to start over. Just make an appointment for the next dose, and the doctor will adjsut timing of any additional doses that you have left based on when you get the other doses. No big deal - happens all the time. Just urge you to finish up and be fully protected.

Unlikely: Missing periods is not a sign of cervical cancer. 
Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.

had  cin2 cervical cancer surgery two weeks ago, had no leaking fluids, had my period last week, i've got brownish liquid all the time. is this normal?

Please call your gyn: #1 u did not have cervical cancer- you had cervical pre-cancer cin-2  #2 your gyn should have told you what to expect post-op and if you are worried please call your gyn, your gyn should have explained that you will get a discharge post op and can last 2-4 weeks but if you were my pt i would check you in the office to make sure no problems, depends how profuse and odorous discharge is.

i have lsil and havnt gone back for my checkup.the past two period cycles i have spotted for 2 days prior to starting.over the past 2 weeks ive had burning and frequent urination but suddenly got worse.how likely is this advanced cervical cancer?

: Burning and frequency are less likely due to cervical pathology but spotting is. LSIL is not a precancerous lesion but we can't rule out the progression which depends on when that PAP smear was done. With the current symptoms, either bladder infection or vaginitis is likely the cause. You should see your GYN for a full eval. In the mean time, increase fluid intake to at least 2 liters/day.

can you bleed between periods for years  with cervical cancer?

Accepted Answer

Yes: If you already have a diagnosis of cervical cancer and are bleeding between periods then you need to be evaluated by your gynecologist.  If you think  you might have cervical cancer because you are bleeding between periods then you need to be evaluated as well.  There are plenty of other causes of vaginal bleeding, but it makes sense to be examined!

what are the chances a normal pap smear missed cervical cancer? does this happen often? how accurate are they?

: Any single pap smear can miss early cervical cancer, but at your age cancer is so rare that you really shouldn't worry about it. Also, if HPV testing was included with your pap and was negative, that's additional reassurance nothing is wrong. But if you remain concerned, discuss it with the doctor or clinic where you get your paps.

i had a 9 day period. mostly light at beginning. could this be cervical cancer or endometriosis? my last exam was normal. ty . been stressed

Most likely: irregular ovulation/hormones. If this continues, see your doctor for testing/exam to be sure.

Unlikely: Cervical cancer is unlikely. Take oral iron and multivitamins to prevent anemia. Talk to your doctor about taking a birth control pill that can limit your period to once a year.
Have a healthy diet, exercise, drink plenty of water, have safe sex, and get HPV vaccine. Wish you good health!

: Never say never. PAP smear is a screening test and could miss the diagnosis. However, it would be unlikely for the lesion to be missed three years in a row. If you have any concern, you may ask your doctor for colposcopy and biopsy.
