Very common, alas: Transient diarrhea happens after one starts medications of this class. Most times the GI upset dissipates; if it doesn't, the rx trial may be a 'bust' despite any efficacy it provides.

Celexa (citalopram): Celexa (citalopram) can mimic symptoms of ibs. That is constipation  or fiarrhea.

Yes: Most side effects 'happen early' and go away in time; if it doesn't go away then tell your md about this for ? Change in medication or consider an infection.

Withdrawal effects: Depending on the dose of Celexa (citalopram) you've been taking, if you suddenly stop you may experience "discontinuation syndrome, " basically withdrawal side-effects.  These can be mild "flu" type symptoms, up to more severe "brain shocks" and other sensations.  It's not dangerous or life-threatening, but it can be pretty uncomfortable.  Talk to your doctor. i' m trying to get off celexa (citalopram) and i can 't cause the withdrawl is very unpleasant even when tampering very slow.  how do i manage this?  i'm on 10 mg

Tapering off Celexa (citalopram): It's unusual to have significant "withdrawl" from 10 mg of celexa (citalopram). I seriously wonder if there are other reasons for your unpleasant feelings. Serotonin syndrome is in and of itself fairly rare complication of abrupt ssri discontinuation and is even more rare when a gradual taper is done. I would drop to 5 mg daily x 1 week and if unable to stop then, to 2.5 mg x 1 week.

Short-term use only: Benzodiazepines are indicated for the short-term use (2–4 weeks only). The use of benzodiazepines, including lorazepam, may lead to physical and psychological dependence, so do not take higher doses of the medication or use it for a longer time than your doctor recommends.

Possible side effect: Celexa/citalopram can have sexual dysfunction (loss of libido, erectile dysfunction, delayed ejaculation) as a side effect. It can be temporary or remain throughout treatment with the medication. Being on the medication longer can help the problem become less. Higher doses can increase risk of side effect. This side effect can occur with many others in this same family SSRIs.

Unlikely: That is a low dose of Celexa (citalopram) and would be very unlikely to cause long qt. That is a very safe dose of celexa (citalopram).

Celexa (citalopram): Although hallucinations have been reported with celexa, (citalopram) i don't know which type of hallucination was experienced. If an individual had a full blown serotonin syndrome i expect that would be possible.

does taking celexa (citalopram) concurrently with baclofen cause people to be less mentally alert?

Baclofen: Baclofen is a muscle relaxant and like most muscle relaxants they can cause sedation thus your decreased mental alertness. Celexa (citalopram) may or may not potentiate the sedation.
