Relapse: If you've had orthodontic treatment and did not wear your retainers as directed, you teeth may have started to shift back to their former position, causing the symptoms that you describe. You will further ortho treatment to correct the relapse. Talk to a local orthodontist regarding your options.

It is all connected!: The TM Joint can refer pain down into the neck, shoulder and arm.  Our bodies brace when we experience pain.  If left untreated, the pain can spread throughout our entire head and neck area and into the shoulder and arm.

Asymmetric jaw: The best option can only be determined after you have a complete understanding of: 1) diagnosis, 2) treatment options, and 3) risks and benefits of each. Often there a many ways to manage these problems, but all too often "short cuts" are attempted with no real chance of success. See an oral and maxillofacial, facial plastic, or cosmetic surgeon for evaluation

Perhaps, but: People chew the most where they have the best occlusion.  You should get your bite checked and get your  jaw and TM joints checked.  The most common reason for assymetry of the face is due to assymetric jaws.  It is possible to nonsurgically reposition the mandible in a more neuromucscularly favorable posture.

Lower Jaw Shift: The clear retainer is also acting as a bite splint. This causes the jaw muscles to relax as apposed to them being held in a more functioning position which may be a result of your surgery. Healing should allow the muscles to accommodate to a more neutral position and shifting should go away.. if not I would suggest a return visit to your oral surgeon.

Yes: Braces may cause distortion of the image in the area around them, but are generally MRI safe.  Let the MRI technologist know exactly what hardware you have inside you when you go for the scan.

ive had braces for 3 years without extraction and it dissolved my jaw line soo much. can my jaws regrow if i dont wear retainers after removeing them? will my teeth ever go back to its orginal position?

: Braces don't "dissolve" jaw lines. Not wearing retainers will allow teeth to relapse, but will not reshape jaws. Teeth will shift, but not exactly back to your pretreatment malocclusion. Discuss your concerns with the Dentist or Orthodontist that is treating you before braces are removed. If still concerned, seek a second opinion from a qualified Orthodontic Specialist.

been diagnosed w moderate tmj w headaches, neck pain, numbness etc - 4 stage treatment suggested 1- bottom retainer for aligning jaw, 2- max growth appliance, 3- braces, 4- retainer .  this sound like correct approach?  anything else i should ask?
